A series of glass pieces created by artist WONG Wai Yim is presented in performance art.

Two female nude models are sitting side by side on a white sofa. Six glass pieces are put on their bodies: vagina, mouth, eye, ear, nipple, and toe.

One model is holding a piece into her vagina and murmuring but she can’t voice out. Other model is sitting aside her, she’s pretending to listen to the 1st model’s murmur but she's caressing the piece on her nipple.

One who wants to talk but her mouth is sealed. Another one who pretends to listen but never care other’s feeling.

Hong Kong is extremely developed and modern. However, it’s also very backward in many ideas, especially with sex. In recent years, artist felt a mood with a very strong depression of sex in this city that she never felt in other place.

As a Chinese woman who grew up in a modern city such as Hong Kong, but was educated by the traditional Chinese culture. Does she dare to speak out her desire? Does she dare chase her dream? Doesn’t society ignore them? How can we satisfy the need of the body and the desire of the mind?

However, artist actually wants to express the depression of the daily life. It seems nothing happened. Life is banal & safe. But Hong Kong people are worry to be disappeared under the pressure of the political power. No one listens. No one can make a voice.

Wai Yim left Hong Kong in 1995 & came back in 2005. Obviously Hong Kong changed a lot after the return to China. This is her personal feeling of the life in Hong Kong in those 7 years.

場景佈置:暗房,背景音樂。燈光照射著兩個裸的女人,身塗滿白色。身上放上六件玻璃作品,一張白沙發,四個白色坐墊

兩個裸體的女人並排坐在白色沙發上。六件玻璃作品放在她們身體各部 位。分別是:陰道,嘴巴,趾,耳,乳頭,眼睛。

嘴巴塞著玻璃的女人在喃喃自語,卻又發不出聲音。一面把一件東西塞進 自己的陰道,另一個女人的耳戴著一件形狀奇特的東西, 像在聽第一位女人的話。左眼蓋上一塊尖物件,只能單眼斜視對方,指尖撫摸着右邊乳頭的冰冷玻璃。

在這作品中,一個想話但嘴巴卻被封住。另一個 像在聽卻無視於對方的感受。

香港是一個高度發展及先進 的城市,但很多觀念卻非常傳統及保守,尤其是對女性的性觀念。女 人在社會中自我價由男人 施予, 電視更出現如「剩女」侮 辱女性的節目。女 性身體只 是美容修身衣 廣告的物件,服務於男性與資本家和傳媒

作者感受到這城市 性的壓抑,比其他城市更甚。

作為一個受傳統教育的中國人,她能不被壓抑地表達自己的慾念嗎?能放 膽地說出自己的夢想嗎?有人聽 嗎?社會有沒有/的感覺?

但被壓抑的只是性嗎?藝術家更想表達的,卻是這 個城市的壓抑。日子看起來平平無奇,什麼特 別的事也沒有。然而人們卻害怕強權隱沒在一個不能發聲的世界裡。沒人聽,沒人理。一直以微力抵御著 強大的政治及生活壓力,一直騙,卻吭不出半聲。

黃 懷琰九 五年離開了香港,零五年才回來。九七以後香港改變了很多。這是她七年來在香港生活的一些感受。
